Interesting thing to me about the New Age is the desire to somehow unify science and religion. You see these simultaneous threads of “we are interested in Buddhism and Hinduism and Taoism all of a sudden” and “perhaps there is an underlying psychological foundation to all religion.” It almost inherently encourages flattening.
